and dairying are successful where sufficient irrigation water is avail-

able. Peas on partly irrigated lands in the northern part of the area

would be a good crop, but are,not grown for lack of market and water for

irrigation. Soy beans might be a very good crop if a high degree of 1'0-

dent control were established.

Yields for irrigated land have varied with the amount of irrigation water

and tillage methods used. On the few acreages within the area where

good tillage methods and sufficient dependable water supply are found.

the following yields are not uncommon:

Alfalfa
Wheat
Oats
Barley
Oorn

4i- tons
45 bushels
60 balilhels
50 bu.shels
40 bushels

Under present conditions, however, these are decidedly maximum yieldlil, had

only with very good farming practices. For all of the cultivated lands under

ditch within the project area production under present oonditions will of

oourse not approach these figures. After a reasonable development period,

the following yields should be obtained with good farming praotice, with

the guidance possible under project operation; although without agricultural

guidance they would be optimum rather than prObable average yields:

Alfalfa
Wheat
Oats
Barley
Corn
Pasture

3 tons
30 to 35 bushels
50 bushels
45 bushels
30 to 35 bushels
It anill1!l.l unit per aore
