be found further along in this report under the heading "Agricultural

Information."

In adapting the present irrigation system in the north part of the pro-

jeot area very little demolition work will be encountered I to remove

ohanged over ditohes that might interfere with irrigation from the enlarged

and extended distribution system. This will be a.t a relatively small

oost and can be so handled with land leveling work as to little affect

total oost.

The~e is very little evidence of wind erosion in the area and little
effec~
effect need be antioipated following land olearing. Not muoh/fromwater

erosion is to be observed throughout the project area notwithstanding

gradient of slopes, and oonditions affeoting this might be expected to

be little changed after land leveling, because of the nature of the sub-

soil to be exposed. Most danger of erosion is to be observed in the

southernmoat:pa.rt of the project. The. soils here are heavier, made'up

,:' more of fin.er particles. 1:Iere, nearer to the river, the arroyos are

larger, with more gradient and larger volumes of flood water pour through

their cutbanks. It should be kept in mind tha.t such results of erosion

as are apparent are the effects of nges. With ngrioultural development

most of .thisoould be prevented.

There are no large qreas of very seriou.s weed infestation. Some bad

patches of bin.dweed are observed in the partly irrigated lands of the

northern part of the project area, espeoially where cultivation. has been

neglected or abandoned with lack of water. It is not believed that final

land development surveys and estimates will show much need for weed
