There is one project in the Upper Arkansas <br />Basin covered by a Federal Power Commission license (minor part). <br />The license, L.P. 768, issued to the City of Colorado Springs for its <br />Ruxton Park plant on August 2, 1927, expires on August 1, 1977. <br /> <br />License Applications Pending. One application for a minor license <br />is pending. It covers Project 2275, plants of the PUblic Service <br />Company of Colorado. The two plants, the Selida No. 1 and Salida No.2, <br />have a total installed capacity of 1,310 kilowatts. <br /> <br />WATER RESOURCES PLANNING <br /> <br />Prior Studies and Reports <br /> <br />A Corps of Engineers' report published as House Document No.' 308, <br />74th Congress, 1st Session, 1932, gave consideration to flood control, <br />navigation, water power, irrigation and other water uses of the main <br />stem of the Arkansas River from Hutchinson, Kansas, to the mouth of the <br />Walnut River. The Corps did not recommend any construction. <br /> <br />Senate Document 13, 85th Congress, 1st Session, was the Arkansas- <br />White-Red Rivers Basins report made in 1955 by the Arkansas-White-Red <br />Inter-Agency Committee. The report, covering the conservation and de- <br />velopment of the basins' water and land resources, was prepared by <br />Federal and State agencies under authorization of Section 205 of the <br />Flood Control Act of 1950. Part II, Section 2, Volume A, is devoted <br />to the Upper Arkansas River Basin and sets forth information on indi- <br />vidual water use and control projects or programs in the AWR plan. The <br />proposed AWR plan provides the basis for the summary of potential de- <br />velopments contained herein, and shown on the basin map, Figure 2. <br /> <br />The Bureau of Reclamation's Project Planning Report for the <br />:Fryingpan-A:ckansas Project \/as published as House Document No. 187, <br />83rd Congress, 1st Session, 1953. Based on this report tIle project <br />was authorized by P. L. 87-590 dated August 16, 1962. <br /> <br />The Bureau of Reclamation's proposal for the Cheney Division, <br />Wichita Project (Kansas), was published as House and Senate Resolu- <br />tions 4606 and 1092, respectively. The Cheney Reservoir, now under <br />construction, was authorized by Public Law No. 86-787, 86th Congress, <br />1960, for the purposes of JaUllicipal water supply, flood control, re- <br />creation, and fish and wildlife. <br /> <br />- 8 - <br />
