Basinwide storage at the <br />end of calendar year 1979 was about 11.8 million acre-feet <br />greater than at the end of 1972. Of the total increase, 7.7 <br />million acre-feet was in the Upper Basin and 4.1 million <br />acre-feet was in the Lower Basin. The 1979 calendar year <br />storage in the Colorado River system was about 5.5 million <br />acre-feet more than the 1978 value. On June 22, 1980, Lake <br />Powell filled (3,700 foot elevation) and 250,000 acre-feet <br />were released over the spillway during the following twenty <br />days. <br /> <br />-3- <br /> <br />~:;i. <br />
