Judge <br />Flannery, on October 3, 1979, granted the defend,ants' <br />motion for summary judgment, on all six counts and denied <br /> <br />the plaintiff's motion. The suit dismissed all six claims <br /> <br />hrought by plaintiff, EDF'. <br /> <br /> <br />On November ?8, 1979, EDF filed notice of appeal of <br /> <br /> <br />the District COl1rt decision. l'he appeal is before the <br /> <br /> <br />District of Columbia Court of Appeals. Briefs have been <br /> <br /> <br />filed and oral argument was held October 14, 1980. A <br /> <br />decision from that court is now being awaited. <br />Executive Director <br /> <br />In September, the Forum hired Mr. Jack Barnett as its <br /> <br /> <br />first Executive Director. Mr. Barnett, whose office is in <br /> <br />Salt Lake City, began his new assignment on November 1, <br />1980. His activities, which are under the direction of <br />the Fourm, will be to coorclinate and promote salinity <br />control activities which would achieve the objective of <br /> <br />maintaining the water quality standards for salinity. <br />Funding for the Executive Director position, office and <br />operating expenses were obtained from grants from EPA <br />and the Four Corners Commission. <br /> <br />-42- <br />
