It is not to be reproduced in <br /> <br />whole or in part or quoted for public information unless permission is <br /> <br />obtained from the sponsoring agency. <br /> <br />This report is compiled as a part of the program of the <br /> <br />Department of the Interior for development of the Colorado-Big Thompson <br /> <br />Project. <br /> <br />II Sill1l'1ARY <br /> <br />The Recreation Reconnaissance Report issued by the National <br /> <br />Park Sorvice in January 1951 concludes that ~"illow Creek Reservoir will <br /> <br />be of local significance and that future use would not warrant more than <br /> <br />a limited recreation devolopment to accommodate boating and camping activitiep <br /> <br />Further conclusions reached at that time indicate tha t although such oppor-: <br /> <br /> <br />tunities are available at nearby Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Lake and <br /> <br />Granby Reservoir it is believed that Willbw Creek Reservoir will possess <br /> <br />certain desirable advantages fo und a t a smaller and more secluded body of <br /> <br />water wh:ich are not available at the larger reservoirs. These :include <br /> <br />less hazardous boating conditions, good fishing opportunities in an <br /> <br />attractive environment with less impact from highway tourist travel. <br /> <br />The above estima te of the recreation value of Willow Creek <br /> <br />Reservoir is substantiated by more recent investigations. Accordingly, <br /> <br />the attached plan of development was prepared.
