<br />The control (or the Purgatoire Rh,'er near Las Animas continues to <br />be a problem. but the expense of a permanent control is probably not <br />justified. The changing 01 the stage-<lischarge retationship by beavers <br />building brush dams just downstream from several of the gages con- <br />tinues to be a problem. <br />The replacement radios for the four gaging stations and the <br />receivers ror the Lamar I Colorado. and Garden City, Kansas offices <br />should be available soon after January I, 1978. <br />The administration approved a cooperative "agreement with the U.S. <br />Geotogicat Survey lor the fiscat year October I, 1977, to September 30, <br />1978, in the amount 01 $28,000 - $14,400 for each party. These lunds are <br />for the operation of the compact stations, the providing of current <br />streamflow data, maintenance of radio equipment, and the preparation <br />of records lor the Annual Report. The replacement 01 the lour trans- <br />mitting stations lor the total amount 01 $20,000 is included in this <br />agreement. <br />The operation 01 the Frontier Ditch and Arkansas River at Coolidge <br />gaging slations was translerred to the Kansas District, U.S. Geotogicat <br />Survey eflective Octoher I, 1977. No change in the cooperative <br />agreement is required, nor are any operation problems anticipated. <br /> <br />10. Findings ollact by the Administration <br /> <br />SPECIAL TELEPHONIC MEETINGS <br /> <br />August 3, 1977 <br />A special telephonic meeting was hetd August 3, 1977 in accordance <br />with Article V-I 01 the Compact lor the purpose 01 declaring that the <br />reservoir would become empty August 3, 1977. Mr. C. J. Kuiper, <br />Cotorado Slate Engineer, and Mr. Robert Jesse, Division Engineer <br />were notified 01 this action and the administration 01 decreed water <br />rights lor Colorado woutd begin August 3, 1977, unless a change 01 <br />conditions justified cancellation or modirication of this notice. The <br />reservoir became empty at 8:00 P.M. Aug. 3, 1977. <br />Participating members: <br />For Colorado -'-- Mr. Bates and Mr. Tempte <br />For Kansas - Mr. Bentrup and Mr. Reeve. <br /> <br />August 11, 1977 <br />A special telephonic meeting was held August 11, 1977 in ac- <br />cordance with Article V-I 01 the Compact lor the purpose 01 declaring <br />that the reservoir would become empty August 11, 1977.
