Lochhend <br />Executive DIrector, DNR <br /> <br />D.lries C. lile, P.E. <br />Director, eweB <br /> <br />To: <br /> <br />Colorado Water Consyvation Board Members <br /> <br />Gene Jencsok~' 6' <br /> <br />From: <br /> <br />Date: January 22, 1998 <br /> <br />Sub: Agenda Item 29c, January 28-29, 1998 Board Meeting <br />Adaptive Management Work Group <br /> <br />Introduction <br /> <br />The Final Environmental Impact Statement and the Record of Decision on the Operation of <br />Glen Canyon Dam established an Adaptive Management Program (AMP), The purpose of the <br />program is to develop modifications to Glen Canyon Dam Operations that protect, mitigate the <br />adverse impacts, and improve the values for which the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area <br />and the Grand Canyon National Park were established. <br /> <br />The AMP, under the direction of the Secretary of the Interior, is administered through an <br />Adaptive Management Work Group (AMWG), a Technical Work Group (TWG) ) that reports to <br />the AMWG, and a Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center (GCMRC), The AMWG <br />membership is appointed by the Secretary and includes the Secretary's designee, and <br />representatives from the: <br />. Bureau of Reclamation <br />. Bureau ofIndian Affairs <br />. US Fish and Wildlife Service <br />. National Park Service <br />. Western Area Power Administration <br />8 Arizona Game and Fish Department; <br />and <br />· One representative each from the six participating Indian Tribes <br />. One representative each from the Seven Colorado River Basin States <br />· Two representatives each from Environmental Groups and Recreational Interests <br />· Two representatives of Contractors who purchase Federal Power from the Glen <br />Canyon Power Plant. <br />
