<br />Nebraska State Water Plan was patterned in large measure after the
<br />larger comprehensive planning effort in the Missouri River Basin.
<br />The Nebraska Water Plan Ivill hOI'lever contain more detail and cover
<br />certain areas of legislation and institutional organization that
<br />are not covered in the Type I Missouri River Basin Planning Study.
<br />
<br />He told the Committee that for the most part information being
<br />extrapolated from the Missouri River Basin study appeared to be
<br />satisfactory, useful, and apropos. It needed however to be supple-
<br />mented with local data to properly reflect local conditions within
<br />the planning subdivisions used in the State study.

<br />Mr. Alan Grindberg, Assistant Chief Engineer of the North Dakot~
<br />State Wa.ter Conunission, pointed out that North Dakota's State Water
<br />Plan will be oriented primarily tOlvard development of the full poten-
<br />tial in the State of North Dal,ota. \vhen completed the North Dakota
<br />State lva ter Plan will become the founda tion for ,later policy decisions.
<br />It will allow the degree of emphasis to be placed on each project
<br />which is in direc t prop or tion to the villue the S ta te sees in the
<br />project.

<br />The State Water Commission is the planning agency responsible
<br />for this \Vork in Nor th Dakota and its firs t effort has been to ga ther
<br />available basic data and assemble it into a form which will provide
<br />a beginning. It is anticipated that a water plan will be completed
<br />in draft form abo~t the first of 1969.
<br />
<br />Many of the several areas of Federal-State planning relation-
<br />ships have assisted North Dakota in developing its water plan. Fore-
<br />most among these has been the Title III funds under the Water Resources
<br />Planning Act. ~lso, participation in the planning effort on the basin
<br />or regional level has assisted in the development of the feeling for
<br />plan'ning and provided kn01,ledge of methodology and criteria to be used
<br />in problems which are likely to occur.

<br />Mr. Conaway, Secretary of the Committee, advised that the 154th
<br />meeting of the Committee "as scheduled for rUbbing, Hinnesota,
<br />September 4, 5, and 6, 1968. The l55th meeting of the Committee
<br />would be held in Lincoln, Nebraska, December 10, 11, and 12. The
<br />156th meeting "ould be held at Jefferson City, Missouri, Harch 18,
<br />19, and 20. lie indicated that agendas for the coming year would
