<br />o <br />c.., <br />00 <br />('oj <br /> <br />The Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad, the only one in <br /> <br />this part of Western Colorado follows the Colorado River, with a <br /> <br />station at Silt, which is the shipping point for the project. The <br /> <br />principal road through the project lands runs over the mountains toward <br /> <br />the southwest to Collbran in Plateau Valley, 40 miles fran Silt. <br /> <br />Other Resources <br /> <br />The part of this valley north of the river, because of the <br /> <br />upheaved Grand Hogback Fault, has exposures of coal of c~~ercial <br /> <br />value, and of vanadium and other minerals in sooe quantity but ap- <br /> <br />parently not sufficient for successful exploitation. No such deposits <br /> <br />have been found south of the river. Common to both. neighborhoods at <br /> <br /> <br />the highest levels are great deposits of oil shale, which may in the <br /> <br />future repla ce or s1,lpplement oil frc.m wells. <br /> <br />West Divide Creek is primarily a livestock ccuntry, backed <br /> <br />by a summer range on the Grand Mesa National Forest at the heads of <br /> <br />the creeks which drain through the project lands. <br /> <br />i <br /> <br />; <br /> <br />, <br />" <br />;, <br /> <br />e, <br />, <br /> <br />7 <br />
