A total of 18 Federal agencies, three State agencies, <br />one conservation entity, and four others submitted comment letters <br />on the draft environmental ststement. The Colorado River Board of <br />California also submitted a comment letter. The letters of comments <br />and the responses thereto are in Chapter XI, "Attachments," Part II, <br />"Letters of Comment." ' <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The final environmental statement accommodates to the extent <br />possible, the review comments received from the 26 respondents. <br /> <br />2. Public Hearings <br /> <br />An April 18, 1974, news release to the Project region media in <br />Colorado announced the public hearings. On May 29, 1974, a Department <br />of the Interior Administrative Law Judge conducted a formal public <br />hearing in Aspen, Colorado, on the Draft Environmental Statement <br />for the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project. There were 84 people in <br />attendance of which 24, gave verbal statements. Nine individuals <br />submitted written statements for inclusion in the Hearings Record. <br /> <br />On May 31, 1974, the public hearings were continued in Pueblo, <br />Colorado. There were 19 people in attendance of which eight gave <br />verbal statements. Two individuals submitted written statements <br />for inclusion in the Hearings Record. <br /> <br />A complete record and transcript of the hearings including written <br />statements presented at the hearings or submitted to the Bureau of <br />Reclamation for the record before the June 14, 1974, deadline are <br />available for inspection in the Commissioner's Office of the Bureau <br />of Reclamation, Department of the Interior Building, Room 7620, <br />lJ~9hi!!~t-:>!! !"r.,: thp T,,,,,,,,,, MiRADuri Regional Office, Building 20. <br />and the Reclamation Engineering and Research Center Library, <br />Building 67, Denver Federal Center, Denver, Colorado 80225; and <br />the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project Office, 219 West 5th Street, <br />Room 222W. Pueblo, Colorado 81002. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />An analysis of the comments and statements made at the public <br />hearings are included in this final environmental statement.
