Maps and data on previous archeo- <br />logical investigations were furnished by the Department of <br />Anthropology, University of Denver. The Colorado State Historical <br />Society provided historical data for areas which may be affected <br />in southeastern Colorado and has previously supplied considerable <br />historic data on the mountainous region of the Project. <br /> <br />Data on fish and wildlife and recreational development was <br />requested from Federal and State agencies. Available data from <br />these agencies has been incorporated in this environmental statement. <br /> <br />The Biology Department of Southern Colorado State College was <br />contacted on vegetation and wildlife and helped develop vegetative <br />and wildlife lists included in this environmental statement. The <br />Audubon Society provided additional data on birds found in the <br />Twin Lakes and the pueblo Reservoir areas. Pertinent correspondence <br />from agencies which furnished data for this environmental statement <br />is included in Chapter XI, Part lA, and in Appendix I. <br /> <br />C. Coordination During Review of the Draft Environmental Statement <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />1. Review of the Draft Environmental Statement <br /> <br />On March 18, 1974, the Draft Environmental Statement was filed <br />with the Council on Environmental Quality and the Notice of <br />Availability was published in the Federal Register on March 22, <br />1974. Copies of the statement were distributed April 19, 1974, to <br />the governmental agencies, conservation entities, educational insti- <br />tutions and newspapers listed in the "Summary." Individuals who <br />submitted comments on the statement are also listed in the "Summary." <br /> <br />Information copies were made available for public review at 27 <br />libraries throughout the development and service area of the <br />Fryingpan-Arkansas Project. The public was also notified about <br />the availability of the statement and the public hearings through <br />the news media listed behind the Department of the Interior news <br />release, a copy of which is included at the end of this chapter. <br /> <br />The 45-working-day review period, which confonns with the Council <br />on Environmental Quality Guidelines published August 1, 1973, <br />in the Federal Register. expired officially on June 22, 1974. <br />The Colorado State Historical Society and the Colorado Division <br />of Planning requested and were granted a IS-day extension to sumit their <br /> <br />X-S <br /> <br />. <br />
