In November 1976, the United States Environmental

Proteotion Agenoy Regional Administrators notified eaoh of

the seven Colorado River Basin states of the approval of

the water quali ty standards for sa] i n1 t.y for the Colorado

. River System as oontained in the dooument enti tIed
"Proposed Wat.er Quality Standards for Salinity Inoluding

Numerio Criteria and Plan of Implementation provide for a

flow weighted average annual numerio oriteria for three

stations in the lower main stem of the Colorado River:

below Hoover Dam, below Parker Dam, and at Imperial Dam.

The Plan of Implementation is oomprised of a number

of Federal and non-Federal projeot.s and. measures to

maintain the flow-weighted average annual salinity in the

Lower Colorado River at or below numerio criteria at the

three stations as the Upper and Lower Basin states oontinue

to develop their oompact-apportioned waters. One of the
