.....,
00
~

,-
-

demands to be used in developing irrigating plans for the coming season, In addition, crop

consumptive use requirements for the early part of the season (April) not previously developed

were to be estimated.

Crop water requirements or gross crop consumptive use is the amount of water a plant needs

to grow and attain full yield potential. The gross consumptive use value estimated depends on

the crop type, location, and month. As part of the Phase 1 Study analyses, gross crop

consumptive use values were estimated using an altitude calibrated Jensen-Haise procedure.

The gross consumptive use values estimated with this procedure for alfalfa, spring grains and

grass hay jpasture for the months of May to September for the Norwood area are shown in

Table 1 and for the Redvale area in Table 2.

TABLE 1
ESTIMATED GROSS CROP CONSUMPTIVE USE (INCHES)
NORWOOD AREA

QLQQ
Alfalfa

Apr

Mav
1.32

Jun

JY!
7.31
9.59

Aug
7.30
6.48

~
4.36

Oct
0.75

Total
29.68

Spring Grains

Grass Hay j
Pasture

1.26
0.37
1.09

1.62
1.34

7.38
5.33

0.0

0.0
1.01

23.39
30.31

7.14

7.87

7.38

4.48

NOTE:
1)
2)

May to September data estimated using 1983 altitude calibrated Jensen-Haise procedure as part of
Phase 1 Study.
April and October data estimated using SCS "Colorado Irrigation Guide" values.

3
