The
average salinity in 1989 Was 695 mgIL at Imperial Oam, up from 579 in 1986. In
January, the salinity level rose to 757 mgIL. The January to July 1990 average is
711 mgIL at Imperial Dam.

Forum reviews salinity standards

A Report on the 1990 Review, Water
Quality Standards for Salinity,
Cowrada River System, was published
in May 1990 by the Colorado River
Basin Salinity Control Forum. The
report reviews the plan of implemen-
tation and the numeric standards as
required by Public Law 92-500, so that
the Basin States may continue to
develop their compact-apportioned
waters while providing the best

practicable water quality in the
Colorado River Basin.

Public meetings were held at Price,
U teh, and Las Vegas, Nevada, to dis.
cuss the review. At these meetings,
oral statements were made, and writ-
ten comments were taken. The Forum
will alao publish the Suppkmental
Report that contains the statements
received.

8273.100.40

U,$.ReParlm,ent <lUbe Inter1Ol'
B~'\) oj Reclamation

A.QllalWtIyReporton'j;lte'
Cql.t'itdO'Ri'ller Water QUality
. The team has evaluated
and ranked the watersheds that are
contributing salt to the Colorado River.

Reports are now being prepared for
the watersheds that appear to have the
greatest potential for range improve-
ment to reduce salt loading, The first
draft report, prepared for the Sagers
Wash watershed, has been distributed
for comment. The team plans to com-
plete preparation of reports for the
high priority watersheds by April 1991.

Advisory Council
meets in San Diego

The Colorado River Basin Salinity
Control Adviaory Council met Tuesday,
October 23, at the Bahia Reaort Hotel
in San Diego, California.

Elections were held for Chainnan
and Vice Chainnan of the Adviaory
Council. O. Larry Anderaon was
elected Chainnan and C. Lawrence
Linser, Vice Chairman.

Council members were briefed on
the status of salinity control activities
and provided input for drafting the
Council's annual report.
