<br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />2.3 <br /> <br />PHYSICAL ASSETS <br /> <br />The various divisions of Greeley's Water Department collectively manage, operale, and maintain <br />six high mountain dams and reservoirs, three modem water flltratlon Irealment facilities, 138 <br />miles of large-diameter treated water transmission lines, seven miles of raw water lines, 297 <br />miles of dislrlbution lines, and 67 million gallons of treated water storage reservoirs. The <br />treatment plants have a combined capacity of 70 million gallons per day. Raw water storage <br />capacity is 8,874 acre-feet. <br /> <br />As of December, 1989, the Water Department had 11,619 metered accounts and 4,836 <br />unmetered accounts. During the past four years, 2,107 meters were Installed as a part of the <br />universal melerlng program. 1986 is the fourth year of the program which Includes providing <br />and installing meters, pits, and related piping for the conversion of unmetered water accounts <br />to metered accounts, The benefits attributable to this program include water conservation and <br />the ability 10 reward cuslomers for wise water use. <br /> <br />Major system maintenance and improvement projects during 1985 included the repair of 52 <br />leaking or broken water lines, replacement of 4,000 feet of deteriorating 16-lnch steel water lines <br />with new 3D-inch ductile Iron pipe. and inslallalion of several new waler lines. In order to better <br />protect and provide the best possible drinking water to Greeley residents, two open treated <br />water reservoirs were fitted with hypalon floating covers In 1985. The third and last uncovered <br />treated water reservoir was covered this year. <br /> <br />In addition to the major project facilities, the Water Department owns several pump stations. <br />numerous buildings, nearly 1200 lire hydrants, laboralory equipment, office furniture and <br />equipment. miscellaneous tools and equipment, several cars and trucks, and some small <br />construclion and maintenance equipment. These items are listed on the depreciation schedule <br />in Appendix ' Included on the list Is the description of the property, acquisition date. <br />estimated service Iffe. cost, and accumulaled depreciation. The facilities and equipment are well <br />maintained, <br /> <br />In 1989, the Waler Department owned about $73.7 miilion of fu<ed assets. The net value after <br />depreclallon was about $66.8 million, The amount outstanding on general obllgallon water <br />bonds was $29,2 million, <br /> <br />2-3 <br />
