IRRIGATION EFFICIENCY IMPROVEMENT <br /> <br />The Qbjective of efficiency improvements is to reduce irrigation drainage <br />retu~n flows from the District under provisions of the Colorado River Basin <br />Salinity Control Act. By reducing the volume of the return flows from the <br />District, the size of the desalting plant can be reduced and. after con- <br />struction, annual operating costs can be reduced. <br /> <br /> <br />A. :Advi sory Commi ttee <br /> <br />The Advisory Committee on Irrigation Efficiency in the Wellton-Mohawk <br />Irri\iation and Drainage District, Arizona, was established at the direction <br />of President Nixon to determine and to implement means of increasing onfarm <br />irrigation efficiencies so as to reduce irrigation drainage return flows <br />from,the District. The technical details of the program were evaluated <br />by a :Technical Field Committee and discussed with a Farmers Advisory <br />Grou~.
