C")
00
.....-l

Dry Elk Laterals

Lands of Dry Elk Valley above the Harvey Gap Reservoir totaling

1,500 acres will be served water by two laterals each approximately

4 miles long. One lateral of 20 second-feet capacity will serve the

lands in the north section of the vaLley and a second lateral of 12

second-feet capacity will serve the land in the south section of the

valley. Cost of the two laterals including needed structures, based

on January 1940 prices, is $15,000.

Davie Ditch

The Davie Ditch, as presently used, diverts water by gravity from

East P~fle Creek and crosses the Rifle Gap reservoir basin and dam

site. The ditch is too high in elevation for all year service by

gravity from the reservoir. It can be supplied water by riser pipe

at such times of the year as storage in the reservoir is in excess of

3,000 acre-feet, 1,000 of which will be dead storage. In order to

supply the ditch with water during the late summer months a hydro

turbine and pump will be used, with water releases to lower ~fle Creek

as a source of power for turbine operation. The cost of the riser

pipe has been included with reservoir cost estimate. The cost of

turbine and pump with needed accessories, including housing facilities

and valves, based on January 1940 prices, is ~9,OOO.

1 c}
