c.'")
l>J
....,

The lands under the Davie Ditch receive water only during the high

flow of heavy run-off years. In low run-off years very little or no

water is diverted bJ' the ditch.

Project Water Supply

Water studies have been prepared to show the adequacy of supply

fot' the irrigation of 6,000 acre.s oJ land under the Grass Valley Canal
~,
and 488 acres of land under theAditch after project development, with

allowance of 1,000 acre-feet of capacity in the Rifle Gap Reservoir for

use by the City of Rifle. During the period 1937-1943, inclusive,

sHortages would have been experienced on lands under the Grass Valley

.

Canal as follows:

Year Shortage Year Shortage
1937 9% 1941 CJf,
1938 0% 1942 17%
1939 7% 1943 0%
1940 13% Average 7%

Water supply for lands under the Davie Ditch would have been

adequate in all years. The City would have been provided its full

allotment of 1,000 acre-feet ih all years. The Rifle Gap Reservoir

would have been filled to its capacity of 10,000 acre-feet in all years

and the lower Rifle Creek Valley lands would have been provided a

full supply. Very little opportunity exists for the use of return

flow water on project lands.

, .1
..!.~
