initiated a groundwater monitoring program in the Northern High Plains area of
Eastern Colorado. The Division plans to expand this study in 1990 into other

portions of Northern Colorado and the San Luis Valley, The laborat~ry

analysis of the collected samples includes routine water quality parameters,

metals, herbicides and pesticides.

The North Front Range Water Quality Planning Association, together with the
Weld County Health Department, have sampled three hundred wells in the
Larimer/Weld region during 1989. Data analysis were made for twelve basic

water quality parameters including total dissolved solids and nitrate.

Results of these enhanced groundwater quality efforts should be available for

A concern which EPA noted in its approval of the April 1988 Colorado Nonpoint

quality waters. through nonpoint source control. The emphasis of Colorado's

nonpoint source program is to ameliorate or remediate existing nonpoint source

problems which have been identified in the assessment report. However,
