Whon finished. <br />Ihis regulating dam will permillhe full <br />utilization of Morrow Point and Blue <br />Mesa Dams which are now in an opera. <br />tion and maintenance status. <br /> <br />Construction began on the 21 mile long <br />Jordan Aqueduct,a feature of the Central <br />Ulah Project, Bonneville Unit. <br />Ultimately this fadlity will supply <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />There were also milestones on thll opt}- <br />rational aspects. <br /> <br />On December 8. 1971, flows of Water <br />Hollow Creek wew diverted through the <br />new \Vater Hollow Tunnel Into Straw- <br />berry Reservoir of the Bonmwille Unit. <br /> <br />~~~;7'- The Meeks Cabin Reservoir of the <br />-J. ...tyman Project in southwest Wyoming <br />Was filled in June 1972, and the first <br />water was releasml for delivery to the <br />water users. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />", .lj <br />. <br />" <br />-1- <br /> <br />79,000 acre-feet of water annually te <br />Salt Lake County. <br /> <br />Work was started on the badly needed <br />steel pipe siphon replacements on the <br />Gould Canal of the Fruitland Mesa <br />Project. <br /> <br />Construction also started on electric <br />power transmission facilities in <br />Southeastern Wyoming and North- <br />central Colorado which will lie the <br />hydro system of the Federal Govern- <br />ment in with the thermal operated sys- <br />tems in the area for overall system <br />mliability. <br /> <br />The water surface of lhe Flaming Gorge <br />Reservoir on the Wyoming-Utah border <br />reached an elevation of 6033 flmt - only <br />seven filet short of capacity. <br />Project power generation for the YHar <br />peaked at 1,305,000 kilowalls while <br />energy production rose by 14 percent <br />above Fiscal Year 1971. With an abun- <br />dant supply of water available during <br />the year, energy production more than <br />doubled at the Flamin!!, Gorge power <br />facilities. <br />Total funds returntJd to the Treasury for <br />the year were $24,293,503. Of this <br />amount, interest paymentsamollnted to <br />$12,693,503, and the balance of <br />$11,600,000 was applied as payment on <br />investment. <br />In the planning field, the Definite Plan <br />Report was completed on the Savery- <br />POl Hook Project and advance planning <br />started on the San MiRuel Project. <br />
