itF-blH~

Chairman, PSIAC

001814

This repart was prepared by a task farce appainted by the chair-

manaf the Pacific Southwest Inter-Agency Cammitteeat the directian

.of the main cammittee. Instructions ta the task force were ta develap

guides far the lacatian, spacing, and engineering design .of stack

pands, which wauld incarparate infarmatian an the volume, surface

area, and depth relatianship .of pands in relatian ta climate, tapa-

graphy, land caver, livestock and/or wildlife use. Consideratian was

. ta be given ta alternative methads ,.of meeting livestack needs, in-

cluding development .of runaff areas, wells, springs, and ather m",thads

, apprapriate far any particular lacality. ' Suggestians far improving the

unifarmity .of State requirements far stackpand filings and their

canstructian were alsa requested.

It is recagnized that the infarmatian in this first repart may nat

be camplete and fully accurate. With experience, refinements will be

.

desirable and, in same cases, necessary. Changes shauld be mad,e as

knowledge and understanding .of the area's hydralagy is incre, ased.

We trust that all users will use the infarmation fram the repart

in this spirit. We invite canstructive criticism <J.,nd hape ta publish a

revisian if and when the .obtaining .of additianal infarmatian justifies.

^;r,
