The plan as finally formulated should improve the' <br /> <br />state's economic development, enhance the social well-being of the <br /> <br />state's popuwation, en\hance the quality of the environment and <br /> <br />contribute to the regional and national economy. Water requirements <br /> <br />for the several purposes should be projected for the major river <br /> <br />basins and for the three time frames 1980, 2000 and 2020. projec- <br /> <br />tions are now under way by the Office of Business Economics and <br /> <br />the Economic Research Service. These projections will consist of <br /> <br />an economic picture of trade areas for the years 1980, 2000 and <br /> <br />2020 from which estimates of water requirements can be developed. <br /> <br />An economic base study of water and related land used projected to <br /> <br />the year 2020 is being undertaken by Colorado State University with <br /> <br />funds furnished by the Federal Office of Water Resources Research <br /> <br />-6- <br /> <br />0067 <br />
