Work Group of the Colorado River Basin Salinity Control

c..., Forum continues to serve the Council in the capacity of
CJ\

o:l a technical review and study team. Myron B. Holburt,
l-'"

California, is Chairman of the Work Group.
The Advisory Council, at its September 12, 1980

meeting, heard reports by the federal agencies which are
taking active roles in the salinity control activities.
The Council is concerned with the slow rate of imple-
mentation of the Colorado River salinity control
activities and recommends that federal agencies
expedite their efforts.
Water and Power
Resources Service (WPRS)
Colorado River Basin
Sal inity Control Program
Grand Valley Salinity Control Unit, Colorado - Construc-
tion of Stage I of the Grand Valley Unit appears to

be moving ahead satisfactorily. The contractor intends to
complete lining of the 6.8 mile section of the Government
Highline Canal by spring 1981. The Stage I area represents
only 10 percent of the Grand Valley Salinity Control Unit

area and it is imperative that salinity control measures be

implemented in the remaining portion of the unit as rapidly
as possible so that the Congressional directives of P.L.

93-320 can be achieved.

-2-
