This

report presents the conclusions reached by the State of Kansas

regarding its interpretation of the mass diagrams,

The mass diagrams that were prepared and submitted are listed in

Table 1, A total of 54 diagrams was developed. consisting of four

sets of single-mass diagrams and five sets of double-mass dia-

grams. Each set consists of annual flows. winter flows (November-

March). and summer flows (April-October), The single-mass dia-

grams were developed by accumulating the yearly values for each of

the three categories above. In addition. the five-year running

averages for each category of flow were accumulated and plotted,

Each set of diagrams therefore consisted of six curves; three

utilizing yearly accumulations and three utilizing 5-year running

average accumulations,

QATA_Q~~Q_l~_MA~~_QlAgSAM_A~A1Y~1~

The diagrams were developed using published monthly streamflow

data from U,S,G,S, gaging stations, The period of record used was

1908 through 1984, For stations where records were not available

for this entire period. estimates of monthly streamflow were

adopted from previous investigations of the Arkansas River, The

data used for the diagrams are presented in Tables 2 through 8

which show the monthly flows as well as the seasonal and annual

flows. These tables also show the yearly and five-year running

,
