The flows it Canon

City provide an indication of the physical supply in the basin,

The gage is located above most of the significant water users in

the Arkansas River Basin, and a large portion of the water supply

in the basin originates from above Canon City. By comparing the

flows at other locations in the basin to the Canon City flows, it

can be determined whether flows at the other locations have

changed in relation to the available water supply in the basin,

The single-mass diagrams of usable stateline flows (set 1) show
the changes with time which have occurred, A noted increase in
the slope of the curve corresponds to the time when the Compact
was adopted in 1949. A noticeable flattening of the curve starts
in 1974 when usable stateline flows declined dramatically, It
should be noted from the diagrams that the change of the slope
starting in the 1970's is much more pronounced than those

corresponding to the droughts of the 1930's and 1950's,

The double-mass diagrams of Usable Stateline Flow vs. the Canon

City Adjusted Flows (set 9) show a slight increase in slope. indi-

cating an increase in usable stateline flows compared to Canon

City flows, starting in approximately 1949, This corresponds to

the time of the adoption of the Arkansas River Compact and
