The 1975 Assessment activities are accomplished by the <br />cooperative efforts of State, regional, and Federal agencies under <br />the overall direction of the Water Resources Council. Regional <br />assessment activities are coordinated and conducted by selected <br />regiDnal sponsors - one for each of the Courrcil's 21 water resource <br />regions. The regions and the sponsors for each region are indicated <br />on the attached map, <br /> <br />The Texas Water Development Board serves as the regiorral sponsor for <br />the Texas Gulf region. As a regional sponsor, the Board articulates <br />for the Texas Gulf Region, the state-regional viewpoint concerning <br />water-related problems and provides required information in a na- <br />tionally consistent format. In addition, the Texas Water Develop- <br />ment Board has contracted to provide this information to the other <br />regional sponsors for that part of Texas contained in their regions. <br />These regions are the Arkansas-White-Red region which is sponsored <br />by the Arkansas-White-Red Basins Inter-Agency Committee and the Rio <br />Grande region which is sponsored by the United States Bureau of <br />Reclamation. <br /> <br />The objective of the 1975 Assessment is to identify, describe, and <br />place in priority for resolution the Nation's severe existing <br />and emerging water and related land resource problems from both <br />the State-regional and national viewpoints. <br /> <br />These problems are being described as a function of a range of future <br />conditions regarding water policies, population growth, economic <br /> <br />170 <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />:1 <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />,I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />
