CC187G

.

.

San Luis Lake

Elevation of San Luis Lake

- 7516.0 feet (4,459 acre feet) (801 acres)

Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) - 1,144 mg/I

Note: Looking at the TDS for San Luis Lake for the past three years
The TDS in 2000 was holding around 600 then in April of 2001 began to climb
and reached 800 in about July of 2001. In April/May 2002 you see the jump to
1000 with a TDS of 1144 as of October 9th, 2002.

Other Operational Items

On July 1, CH01 and CHO 2 were opened to deliver approximately 5 cfs each
t,o the Alamosa Wildlife Refuge, On July 3, in an effort to provide more than
1 cfs to the Rio Grande a special meeting was held and the outcome was to
reduce the delivery to the Refuge from 10 cfs to 5 cfs and immediately
deliver the water to the river and to reduce the inflow to San Luis Lake
from approximately 10 cfs to 5 cfs,

Agro annual report 2001 - An average of 1,264 acres within the project boundary
are showing a significant decrease in vegetation from the Pre-project baseline.
This amount is less than 2000 and 1998, and is similar t01999. According to Agro's
report much of this decrease is attributed to factors other than project pumping.
This decrease is far less than the 8,460 acres that were predicted in the FEIS and for
which mitigation water is being provided. An average of 857 acres within the
project boundary show a significant increase in vegetation from the Pre-project
baseline. This amount is similar to the past three years. Areas within the
project boundary that show an increase in vegetation include lands that are
receiving mitigation water.

USGS annual review 2001 - USGS completed the 2001 Quality Control/Quality
Assurance Review of the Closed Basin Elevation Wells (EW) for the period of
January 1- December 31,2001, USGS commented that the Bureau is doing an
excellent job in collecting the data, in the correction of the data, and computation
methodology. Comparisons were made between the USBR transmitted mean
daily water levels, USGS computed mean daily water levels, USBR computed
mean daily water levels, USGS field measured water levels, and the USBR field
measured water levels. Twelve wells were randomly selected by the USGS for
the comparison and annual analysis, The program for the next year will continue
with the focus on more physical measurements, looking at areas of concern, and
establishing a review process rather than a duplication of effort.
