-6-

On the Davis farm Field A is a new planting of close Red Haven
semi dwarf peach trees. We had 100% survival of the trees. The trickle
irrigation system is especially suited to new plantings because one is
able to maintain water and nutrients at the roots without a lot of
special attention. We are optimistic that these trees will show
exceptional early growth and bearing.

Mr. Davis has said that the production on his farm has increased
, and that the trees under drip irrigation had a distinct advantage in
that the fruit continued to grow during 'the harvest while that which
was furrow irrigated did not. Nothing was done in the way of fertilizer
addition this year, but a monthly leaf analysis showed the trees to be
in excellent condition. Small amounts of Fe and Mn were added to
maintain a good green appearence. Next year ~Ie plan to follow a planned
nutritional program throughout the season.

'fQ~~
\:,
