Mr. Hichald Gorgon
Apr i 1 22, 19t17
P..H;} ~ 'fh L ce

the water in the river 1000 meters downstream]
from Grand Junction sewage treatment plant is n t
meeting state water quality standards.

This is very restrictive and any depletion that
would have an impact on these standards and
require our District to discontinue use of its
pumping plant must be evaluated and discussed in
detail in the E.I.S.

We suggest that standard flow and water quality
restrictions to be adopted by the Corps for
Denver should be the same as those imposed by the
Corps on our District otherwise they would be
preferential and discriminatory. The priority
for the Two Forks water rights to be diverted
from the Colorado River drainage are junior to
the priority for our Bridges Switch pumping
plant.

3. The E.I.S. should discuss salinity impacts caused
by depletions during the dry years measured at
Cameo rather than averages. Any increase in
salinity at Cameo could have a detremental impact
on agricultural crops and treatment of municipal
water. These impacts should be recognized and
mitigated. Increases in salinity at Imperial Dam
is another matter.

We suggest a tabulation be made showing the minimum flows
at Cameo which result from depletions and the effect this will
have on salinity and quality of water.

We appreicate the opportunity to comment on the E.I.S.

Sincerely,

V~ef'~~

PC/cgh

Paul Calder
Manager

cc: G.W.
