Typical sections were designed to fit the required capacities. and the same procedure used in estimating the cost of Perry Draw Inlet Canal was then employed to obtain a total cost of the canals exclusive of structures. Costs of turnouts. checks. and division boxss were esti- mated from typical structures on the basis of information from '!Quantity Estimates for Structures" prepared by Region 6, Billings, Mont., and reprinted by the Commissioner's Office. Denver. Colo.. SepteJllber 1955. Fam lateral and drainage costs were not estimated in detail but are based on estimated average per acre costs for comparable projects. The operation. maintenance, and replacement costs were estimated at the projected long-tenn future price level considered to average 175 percent of 1940 prices. These costs,which average $2.40 per acre, were estimated on the basis of the estimated construction costs, lengths, and capacities of the variouB project features in accordance with Bureau procedures for reconnaissance studies.
