Assuming that half of this 250,000 emploree
increase is made up of newcomers and that each employee repre-
sents two and one-half new residents, the basin population would
hl<ve grown approximately 300,000 to June 30, 1942. Deducting
for residents taken away by military operations and by evacuation
and allowing for military forces still within the basin, the net
increase in population is estimated to be approximately 250,000,

TABLE. 2

POPULATION AND ASSESSED VAUiATION OF CONSTITUENT AREAS

POPIJLATJON POPULATION ASSESSED
AREA 1940 1942 VALUATION
ACRES U.S.CE.~SUS ESTIMATED 1942.43
Anaheim 2.473 11,0.11 12,000 S 8,690.540
Be\'erIy HiJl~ 3.219 26.823 30.000 64,492,705
Burbank .. 10,370 34,337 55,000 15,618,135
CoaBtsl Municipal WUI!:"r
Di!ltrict 9.063 6,000 9,500 9,814,810
Com pIon 2.860 16.198 19,000 10,627,370
Fullerton ... 10,650 10.442 11,500 }4,772,545
Glendale 12,783 82..\82 100,000 66,757,270
Long Beach 20,755 IM,271 210,000 ]81,345,900
Lf)~ Ange]e~ . ....288.790 1.504,217 1,650.000 1.365,765,665
Pasaoena \2.595 ?L'Ofl+ 85,000 8.,561,260
San Marino 2,.18.
