<br />002978 <br /> <br />Region Three <br />(New Mexico, Arizona) <br /> <br /> <br />1. An inventory of watershed restoration needs on National <br />Forest lands has been initiated. <br /> <br />2. A joint effort between National Forest Administration <br />and Forest Service Research has been initiated for the <br />evaluation of chaparral management activities and their <br />effects on various resource outputs, two of which are <br />water quality and quantity. The plan of study has been <br />prepared and watershed calibrations are soon to be <br />installed. The study is known as the Battle Flat Project <br />and is located on the Prescott National Forest in Arizona. <br /> <br />3. The Region's soil scientists have participated with SCS <br />in completing the soil erosion assessment. <br /> <br />C-25 <br />
