To reduce un.
necessary radio transmissions, digital events can be set to
transmit only on the nlh evenl, where n .. 1 109. For ex-
ample, water level shalt encoders can be changed 10 trans-
mit on smaller or larger increments - - from 0_01 to 0.09 feel,
as conditions did ale.

.

Exoandable AnaroQ Interlace. To expand the
ALERT system's usefulness, the HANDAR Flood Alert Sys-
tem can be interlaced to up 10 16 analog input channels.
Therefore. this real. time system can also be used as remole
weather stations, lot air monitoring, foresl fire danger rating
systems, as wen as flood warnings, dam/reservoir monilor-
ing. and other hydrologcaJ applications.

548 SU/SV RECEIVER

HQt'IDQ(' 548 UA6E STA,TlOt.,I
.. k ...co.,
, - - .

. ~

,

300 or 1200
baud

Receives both existing 300 baud
and higher speed 1200 baud data
transmillers.

.

The 548 Receiver detects and decodes both 300 and
1200 baud data transmissions in an ALERT System. The
1200 baud rale increases system report capacity by
significanlly reducing the length of the transmitted data
burst. And, because the 548 will also delect 300 baud
rate transmissions, it is capable of roncurrent reception
w~h remote s~es that transm~ at the existing 300 baud
rate.

A unique feature of the 548 receiver is that rt monitors
certain network parameters to ensure proper radio system
operation. A front panel LED display provides three
important pieces of information:

(1) Quality
(2) NoIse
(3) Loading

~o.... ...:_
un

r".......~ 000
. .~.

_...~..... ,."u_
.-.
.000'"'' 0"

. .

-

-

-

Network Status
Manlier

Continuous monitoring of system
perlormance status - . quality of
data, radie frequency noise, and
system loading.

Qualllv is the ratio of valid transmissions to the total
number of transmissions, For example. a quality fador of
say, less than 90%, would indicate that signals are weak,
or are being interfered with, or are being lost by excessive
network loading. The Noise and Loading measurements
provide further clues to the problem.

U2.l.u is the ratio 01 unmodu!ated signal to 10tal elapSed
time. This is a dired measurement 01 in-band RF interler-
ence from other Iransmitters or noise SOurces.

Loadlna is the ratio of the time that the carrier is re-
ceived with data to total elapsed time. This ratio gives ad-
vanced warning of potential system overload. It may indi-
cate a need 10 evaluale the number 01 sensors transmitting
on the same frequency or, with information from the Noise
measurement, indicate a possible source of interference on
the assigned frequency.

Ordering Information

For OEM Agreements, quantity diSCOunt schedules or specials, COntact the HANDAR Factory Sales Department by calling
(408)734-9640, or wiring;

.
