There are three primitive campsites at reservoir
locations.

Wilderness Management Facilities and Practices

There are 59 existing primitive campsite areas and sanitary control
points, two ranger stations, a fire lookout, stone shelter, two his-
toric buildings, and a short section of underground telephone line
within the proposed wilderness.

About 20 of the primitive campsite areas contain vault or pit type
toilets and fireplaces. Most are just sites with no facilities.

The vault type toilets are serviced by helicopter.
inserts are replaced with empty ones from the air.
usually hovers over the site during this operation

Full fiberglass
The helicopter
but sometimes lands.

A special provision in the designating legislation is recommended to
provide for the continued use and maintenance of vault toilets, and
underground telephone lines in wilderness.

The present backcountry management programs, already in effect, will
continue in the designated wilderness. Camping is being restricted to
designated campsites or zones. Fires are allowed only in established
sites below treeline. Backcountry use permits are issued with no fee
for the existing primitive campsite areas. They are issued on a first
come, first served basis and not more than 24 hours in advance.
