S, Highway 54 <br />~ <br /> <br />is located 7 road miles to the north, and carries an average of 1200 <br /> <br />vehicles per day at thi.s point. Loveland, Colorado, nearest city is <br /> <br />approximately 12 road miles east of the reservoir site and is served <br /> <br />by the Colorado and Southern, and Union Pacific Railroads. <br /> <br />(. ~ <br /> <br />E, Economic and Social Standards <br /> <br />I, From all appearances the local residents enjoy a satisfactory <br /> <br />income, and $aintain a standard of living equal to or above the national <br /> <br />~~- <br />,:k; <br /> <br />average, <br /> <br />'.,:. <br /> <br />2, :Tl10 general land usos are grazing, crop production under <br /> <br />irrigation, and cherry production.. Exis:ting and Proposed Recreation Areas in the Vicinity <br />Rocky Mountain National Park lies some 14 air mileS to the west. <br /> <br />Developments in the park include roads, trails, lodges, cabins, camp <br /> <br /> <br />grounds, a museum and ski area. . The annual visitation to the park is. <br /> <br />over one million. <br /> <br /> <br />Roosevelt National Forest, which lies within two miles to the <br />west and north of the reservoir site is an extensive area along the eastern <br />.' <br /> <br />slope of the Continental Divide where the simple forms of recreation are <br /> <br />enjoyed in a natural uncrowded environment.
