<br />002433 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />, <br />, <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S MONTHLY REPORT <br />TO THE <br />COLORADO RIVER BOARD OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />March 12, 2002 ' <br /> <br />AGENCY MANAGERS MEETING <br /> <br />The Agency Managers held their second meeting of2002 on February26th and 27th, A copy of the <br />agenda is included in the Board folder. Major topics of discussion at this meeting included: I) revisit of <br />the reimbursement fonnula for the Six Agency Committee; 2) transferofPPR water; 3) eligibility oflands <br />on the Yuma Island to receive Priority 2 water under California's Seven Party Agreement of 1931; and <br />4) water acquisition opportunities related to the MSCP, <br /> <br />With regard to the Yuma Island issue, the Agency Managers are trying to gather as much <br />information as they can, related to what has historically occurred on Yuma Island, in order to bring a <br />recommendation back to the Board for its consideration, Also, the Agency Managers indicated that <br />because of the work load, at this time, involving activilies associated with implementing programs <br />contained in California's Colorado River Water Use Plan and the associated environmental compliance <br />documentation, an adequate and appropriate response could not be made by Reclamation's March II, <br />2002, deadline, It was suggested that a 120 day extension of the comment period be granted, On behalf <br />of the Board, on March 4th, a letter was sent to the Regional Director of the Lower Colorado Region of <br />Reclamation, Mr. Robert Johnson, requesting a 120 day extension, From infonnal discussions with <br />Mr, Johnson and other Reclamation employees, I have been told that the requested extension will be <br />granted, <br /> <br />Statements of Economic Interests <br /> <br />As a reminder to those Board members who have not returned their Statement of Economic <br />Interests, those Statements are due in Sacramento no later than April 2, 2002, Please return them to me, <br />so they will be post marked prior to April 2"d, <br /> <br />PROTECTION OF EXISTING RIGHTS <br /> <br />Colorado River Water Report <br /> <br />During January 2002, storage in the major Upper Basin reservoirs decreased by 537,000 acre-feet <br />and storage in the Lower Basin reservoirs increased by 93,000 acre-feet. Total System active storage as <br />of the end ofJanuary was 44,570 million acre-feet (mat) or 75 percent of capacity, which is 4,514 mafless <br />than one year ago, <br /> <br />February releases from Hoover, Davis, and Parker Dams averaged 14,120, 14,420 and 9,080 cubic <br />feet per second (cfs), respectively, Planned releases from those three dams for the month of March 2002 <br />
