<br />4 <br /> <br />d. The Chief, Forest Service, may permit, suhject to such restric- <br />tions as he deems desirable, the landin~ of aircraft and the <br />use of motorbnats at places within any Hil derness where these <br />uses were establ ished prior to the date the I,Jilderness was desi~- <br />nated by Canoress as a unit of the National Vlilderness Preserva- <br />tion System. Th~ Chief may also permit the maintenance of <br />aircraft landina strips, heliports, or helispots which existed <br />when the Wilderness was designated by Con~ress as a unit of the <br />Nat i ona 1 Hil derness Preservat ion Sys tern. <br /> <br />j. <br /> <br />Section 293.7 - Grazino of Livestock <br /> <br />The nrazine of livestock, where such use was established before the date <br />of leoisla~ion which includes an area in the National Wilderness Preserva- <br />tion Svstem, shall be nermitted to continue under the oeneral regulations <br />coveri no '1raz i nq of 1 i vestock on the flat i ona 1 Fares ts and in accordance <br />with special provisions coverinq qrazing use in units of National Forest <br />Wilderness which the Chief of the Forest Service may prescribe for qeneral <br />application in such units or may arranqe to have prescribed for individual <br />units. <br /> <br />The Chief, Forest Service, may permit, subject to such conditions as he <br />deems necessary, the maintenance, reconstruction, or relocation of those <br />livestock mananement improvements and structures which existed within a <br />Wil derness when it was incorporated into the Nat i ona 1 Hil derness Preser- <br />vation System. Additional improvements or structures may be built when <br />necessary to protect wilderness values. <br /> <br />Section 293.8 - Permanent Structures and Commercial Services <br /> <br />Motels, summer homes, stores, resorts, orqanization camps, hunting and <br />fishing lod~es, electronic installations, and similar structures and uses <br />are prohibited in National Forest Wilderness. The Chief, Forest Service, <br />may permit temporary structures and commercial services within National <br />Forest Wilderness to the extent necessary for realizino the recreational <br />or other wilderness purposes, which may include, but are not limited to, <br />the public services oenerally offered by packers, outfitter~, and quides. <br /> <br />Section 293.9 - Poisons and Herbicides <br /> <br />Poisons and herbicides will not be used to control wildlife, fish, insects, <br />or plants within any Wilderness except bv or under the direct supervision <br />of the Forest Service or other aqencv desi~nated bv the Chief, Forest <br />Service; however, the personal use of household-type insecticides by <br />visitors to provioe for health and sanitation is specifically excepted <br />from this prohibition. <br /> <br />Section 293.10 - Jurisdiction ovpr Wildlife and Fish <br /> <br />Nothina in these renulations shall be construed as affectinn the juris- <br />diction or resnonsibilitv of the several States with respect to wildlife <br />and fish in the National Forests. <br />
