The No Action Alternative, in which no action would be taken, was included as
required by NEP A and serves as a basis of comparison for the action alternative. A comprehensive
analysis of the impacts of each alternative is included in Chapter 3 of this document.

_A. No Action Alternative - The No Action Alternative means no actions would be taken to
a~end Pueblo West's current easement to allow construction, maintenance, and operation of a
proposed 36-inch pipeline, the River Pump Station No.2, stabilization of the diversion and
intake structure, or installation of an emergency generator. Pueblo West would continue to use
existing infrastructure for conveyance of water.

B. Construction Alternative (Preferred Alternative) - The Construction Alternative would
amend an existing easement with Pueblo West ,to permit construction, maintenance, and
operation of the following facilities:

1. 36-inch Pipeline: The pipeline would be approximately 20,805 linear feet and would be
completely buried, Approximately 3,945 linear feet of the pipeline would be constructed
across Reclamation property.

2. River Pump Station No.2: Maximum designed pumping capacity would be approximately
27.7 cfs or 18 million gallons/day (MOD) to supplement the existing River Pump Station
No.1 capacity of approximately 18.9 cfs or 12 MGD. River Pump Station No, 2 would be
constructed approximately 150 feet south cif the existing River Pump Station No.1 on the
north bank of the Arkansas River.

3. Diversion and river intake structure: The existing diversion structure would be stabilized
and incorporate a proposed concrete river intake structure for the River Pump Station No.
2. The river intake would be screened and, gated.
,

; ,
4. Emergency Standby Generator: An emerg~ncy standby generator (generator) shelter would
be constructed 25 feet north of the existing River Pump Station No. 1 location. This
generator would be designed to have switch-over capability to operate either the River
Pump Station No.1 or the River Pump Station No.2. Presently, the River Pump Station
No. 1 operates without any standby power provisions.

6
