<br />OG'i23f <br /> <br />ties for about 11,000 acre-feet of water annually. The water supply for <br />this potential development would come from existing water rights and by <br />purchasing irrigation water rights and converting them to municipal and <br />industrial use. To date, local interests have been unable to obtain <br />financing to develop the consultant's plan through either the State or <br />private sector. <br /> <br />PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT <br /> <br />Local resi dents and organi zati ons strongly supported the Coal Creek <br />investigations. The Coal Creek Basin Water Users Association, Inc., and <br />the Colorado Water Conservation Board both endorsed the studies. This <br />endorsement represented the local communities efforts to minimize future <br />water supply problems. Public meetings were held, and area concerns and <br />suggestions were solicited from local residents.
