BAUD , ,co. <br /> <br />11 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />........-. <br /> <br />DESCRIPTION OF AREAS <br />NARROWS SITE <br /> <br />Location <br />The Narrows Dam site is situated approximately 4 miles north and 6 miles <br />west of Fort Morgan, Colorado. The airline distance is approximately 7 miles. <br />The confluence of the South Platte River and Bijou Creek is approximately 3-1/4 <br />I. <br />miles downstream from the Narrows Dam site. <br /> <br />I <br />The intersection of Interstate Highway 80S with U. S. Highway 34 and <br />Colorado State Highway 39 lies approximately 12 miles to the southwest. <br />, <br /> <br />The dam site lies in Ranges 58 and 59 West, Township 4 North, Morgan <br /> <br /> <br />County. The proposed reservoir, along the bed of the South Platte River, extends <br /> <br /> <br />from Range 58 West to Range 61 West in Townships 4 and 5 North. The fee <br /> <br /> <br />taking for the proposed reservoir lies entirely in Morgan County. The proposed <br /> <br /> <br />flood easement extends slightly over a mile into Weld County. <br /> <br /> <br />The overall length of the proposed taking in fee for the dam and reservoir <br /> <br /> <br />is approximately 11-1/4 airline miles. Inclusive of the flood easement the <br /> <br /> <br />overall length is approximately 14-1/2 miles. The maximum width of the taking <br /> <br /> <br />(at the dam site) is approximately 5-1/4 miles. <br />Elevation <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />lnformation obtained from the U. S. Geological Survey map indicates the <br /> <br /> <br />minimum elevation, within the proposed taking is approximately 4, 320 feet. The <br /> <br /> <br />maximum elevation is approximately 4,450 feet. ' <br /> <br /> <br />Area Development <br /> <br /> <br />The proposed res,ervoir area had developed originally as an agricultural <br /> <br />_.~.-':"-'-'--'----. <br />
