Elbert power plant to the s',:i tchyt:rd, '''c
had a brief discu~sion with your personnel on the reloct:tion of the
road which presently runs through the Mt. Elbert forebay.
"
Due to the fluctuation of the forebay during p(l\1er plant opcration,
ve now plan no recreation facilities at the forebay with the exce,,-
tion of the proposed campground to be located on the west side of
the foreb~y adjacent to the west side road relocation align"ent.

.

With the elimination of these recreation facilities we feel it woul"
be more desirable that, the road be relocated around the east side,,;"
the,Mt. Elbert forebay and connect with the Harmony View access rG"
The east side location would reduce the total alOount of road cor.c- ''',
tion needed in the forebay area and would redu~e future disturbance
in the big game winter range west of the forebay.

We have drawn, on the enclosed map, a tentative location for this -,
east side road.

We have earlier requested that the top soil from the Elbert forebay
be stockpiled for future use during rehabilitation of the construc-
tion areas. We recommend that this material be stockpiled in the
small side draw just north of the proposed fore bay dam, as indicutd
on the attached map. This area would be easily accessible during
and after construction, and any top soil not used for rehabiiitatiun
could be left in place.

"

..........

.

XI-II

12:""'.\.'
