As an extension of the Eagle-Piney Gravity System. <br /> <br />As an extension of the Eag1e-Piney Gravity System, the Eag1e C010rada <br />C011ection System would divert water by gravity from the Eagle River near <br />Avon or pump water from the Eagle River near Wolcott as we11 as from the <br />Colorado River near State Bridge and store it In the Eagle Colorado <br />reservoir on A1ka11 Creek, from which it would be pumped into the Eag1e- <br />Piney Gravity System and be carried by gravity through the Vail Pass Tunnel <br />to Di110n Reservoir. <br /> <br />The water rights for this un1t are in the process of being adjudi- <br />cated; the Referee has rejected the Board's c1aim and the matter is now <br />pending before the Water Judge on Denver's protest to the Referee's ruling. <br /> <br />The increase in firm annual yield to the Denver System from the <br />operation of this unit is estimated to be 106,000 acre feet per year. <br /> <br />The cost of construction is estimated to be $626,000,000.00 in 1980 <br />dollars (not including the cap1ta1ized cost of annual power deliveries <br />required to pump the water) and the development period, Including time for <br />site specific environmental ana1yses, permitting and construction is esti- <br />mated to be 25 years. <br /> <br />In addition, the annualized power cost is estimated to be <br />$14,000,000.00, which is capitalized at a value of $224,000,000.00 in 1980 <br />dol1ars. <br /> <br />2. Without use of the Eag1e-Piney Gravity System. <br /> <br />The Eag1e Colorado System developed without use of the Eagle-Piney <br />Gravity System, wi1l divert water by gravity from the Eag1e River near Avon <br />or pump water from that river near Wo1cott as we11 as from the Colorado <br />River near State Bridge and store it in the Eagle C01orado Reservoir on <br />Alkali Creek from which It will be pumped through a series of pipe1ines and <br />tunnels to the Vail Pass Tunnel for delivery into Dillon Reservoir. <br /> <br />The increase in firm annual yield to the Denver system from the <br />operation of this unit is estimated to be 170,000 acre feet per year. <br /> <br />-6- <br />
