CO (Rainbow and Brown)
Buford upstream to Lost Creek (Rainbow and Mountain Whitefish)

Your comment that the last named reach was definitely a Group I stream,
ly1ng wholly within RAA-14A, is noted. Some such errors are expected,
since the line designat1ng the boundary between 14A and 14B was sketched
in, not based on any precise limits. Corrections are welcome.

Your reason for desiring reconsideration of these representative reaches
was that they so closely resembled each other in size and character-
istics; a greater spread to represent streams in more classes and sub-
classes would be des1rable. I agree. .

Reviewing the analysis sent to you May 2, 1978. and assuming you wish to
consider only streams tr1butary to the Yampa, White, and Colorado
Rivers, as being those most vulnerable to the 1mpacts of emerging energy
technologies, we have the following suggestions:

1. Adopt the East Fork of the Wil11ams Fork (tributary to the
Yampa River) as the USGS gaging station for a reach extending
from Willow Creek upstream to the confluence of a major tribu- .
tary enter1ng the East Fork slightly south of the Moffat
County/Blanco County Line (see 1978 Stream Evaluation Map of
Colorado)_ This reach will be representative of similar
