Turquoise Lake

1(}79

However, under reasonable m~n~um conditions the lowest reservoir water ~
level would be somewhat above this elevation. In each case, the reservoir
would fill by the first of July to provide optimum recreation benefits
during the summer months.

After July 1, operation plans call for drawing the reservoir down to a
point two feet below the spillway crest and, holding it at this stage
until August 1. During August, releases Mill not be dropped below 150
c.f.s. as requested by Colorado River interests. September releases
will be maintained at 100 c.f.s. at the request of the Colorado Division
of Wildlife in order to optimize downstream fishe~.

Table II and exhibit 8 show the anticipated 1975 water year operation of
Ruedi Reservoir.

Reservoir Inflow

Inflow to Turquoise Lake for water year 1975 will be from three sources:
Busk-Ivanhoe imports, F~ingpan-Arkansas Project imports, and native
flow of Lake Fork Creek. No imports are being considered in this re,.
port for the Homestake Project as part of the Homestake Tunnel has caved-
in and may be inoperable in water year 1975. If the tunnel is repaired
and water is imported, this water will become a fourth source of inflow
and will be included in the operation of Turquoise Lake. Estimates of .
inflow from Busk-Ivanhoe and native Lake Fork Creek flow were made by
use of historical records and probability analysis.

The 10-, 50-, and 90-percent chance values were obtained from the
probability curves shown on exhibits 1 and 2 and are considered to
represent the reasonable minimum, most probable, and reasonable
maximum inflows, respectively. Monthly, distribution of these values
was made in accordance with historical:records. Fryingpan-Arkansas
Project imports for the three conditio~s are derived from exhibit 2
and are discussed in more detail under Western Slope Collection System.

Minimum Reservoir Release

Now that Pueblo Reservoir is able to store upstream releases, minimum,
releases are to be maintained at 10 c.f.s. for October and 3 c.f.s.
for November through April, or natural i inflow to. the reservoir which-
ever is lesser. Irrigation releases fQr presently irrigated lands on
Lake Fork Creek are estimated to be sufficient minimum flow during
the irrigation season.

Reseryoir Operation

Planned operation of Turquoise Lake for water year 1975 was made assuming
ideal conditions and complying with as many requests by involved entities

~

12
