r
,

8

7. Review and Approval of Work Plan for Recreation and Environmental Subcommittee

Barry Saunders asked that the record show that the committee commended Pete

,

Barrows for the work he had done on this report and plan. The motion was made

and seconded.

8. Approval for Publication--Water and Vegetation Subcommittee Reports

Barry Saunders informed the committee that these reports dealt with floods in

the inundated areas in the southwest. The first report dealt with California

only; the second with Arizona, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, and Oregon; and the

third dealt. with Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. No one present had had a

chance to look at any of the reports and it was decided that after reviewing

them and supplying Barry with comments Barry would contact the Subcommittee

relative to publication.

9. u.s. Forest Service RARE Program--Responses form Regional Foresters

Mr. Sanchez questioned whether or not PSIAC should invite Regional Foresters to

meet with the committee at the September meeting and it was decided that something

needed to be done before then since according to the Service's schedule they planned

to be well down the road by that time. Vern Valantine suggested that perhaps a

committee could be organized to meet with the. Forest Service and agreed to chair

that committee. He stated that California had written a letter to the Regional

Forester in Ogden regarding this matter and had made an appointment to meet with

him the following day. He said he would state at that meeting that he represented

both the State of California and the PSIAC. Dean Johanson volunteered to be on

the committee with Mr. Valantine since the matter involved programs that the

LC Region was involved in. Mr. Sanchez requested that Mr. Valantine report back

to him the results .of the meeting.

8-8
