<br />State. Highvay No..280. A concrete-lined, open-channel type spill- <br />way with two 21-foot by 20-foot radial gates will pass 12,000 cfs <br />of overflow at reservoir stage 8280. A concrete-lined, 1l.5-foot <br />diainater outlet tunnel leads from an inlet trashrack structure in <br />the reservoir and extends 1,065 feet through the left abutment to <br />the river belo"W the dam. This tunnel "Was utilized to divert the <br />river during construction of the dam. An outlet gate-chamber <br />containing two sets of control valves is located at the base of <br />an elevator shaft that can be entered from the crest. of the dam. <br />The control valves include a 30-inch gate valve and a 30-inch <br />hollo"W-jet .valve in one set and a 14-inch cone valve and a 14- <br />inch hollow-jet valve in the other. Capacities of the two <br />operating outlets are 380 cfs and 70 cfs, respectively. <br /> <br />Dikes Nos. 1, 2, and 4, connected to form a single structure, <br />have a crest length of 4,415 feet, a maximum height of 80 feet <br />above foundation, and a volume of 945,000 cubic yards. Dike <br />NO.3 has a crest length of 1,815 feet, a maximum height of 65 <br />feet, and a volume of 723,558 cubic yards.
