the essential difference between this plan and the previous one
would hove bcen the elimination of the industrial supply fOl" energy
production and the addition of 10,300 acre-feet of water for relieving
water shortages in the Uncompahgre Project Area.

In this plan the !laUas Divide Reservoir, Dallas Feeder Canal, and
Log lIill Mesa Conduit would have been 'constructed much as in the energy
plan, as would the irrigation and municipal water service. Ridgway
Reservoir, would have been' constructed to the same capacity. Fish and
wildlife plans remained essentially as in the energy plan. The dead and
inactive pool in Ridgway Reservoir would have been increased to 25,000
acre-feet speCifically for recreation.

Current Plan

Subsequent to the distribution of the Draft Environmental Statement
concern was raised over the environmental effects of diverting water from
East and West Forks of Dallas Creek, irrigation of new land on Log Hill
~[esa, and supplying municipal water to Loghill Village. Opposition was
also expressed to the removal of 6,000 acres of land from county tax
rolls for wildlife mitigation. Also, the developers of Loghill Village
reduced their request for municipal water, adversely affecting the economic
justification of the Dallas Divide-Log Hill Mesa segment 0; the ~lan. As
a result of these factors all project service to Log Hill ~[esa was deleted
from the project plan, along with Dallas Divide Reservoir, Dallas Feeder
Canal, Log Hill Hesa Conduit, Ridgway Pumping System and related features:
These deletions made possible the reduction of Ridgway Reservoir to 80,000
acre-feC'twith the retention of the dead and inactive pool of 25,000 acre-
feet. The Cow Creek Feeder Canal was also eliminated.

This plan provides for a project water supply of 39,400 acre-feet,
including 11,200 acre-feet for irrigation, 22,600 acre-feet for municipal
use, 5,500 acre-feet for light industrial use, and 100 acre-feet for use
in the recreation areas at Ridgway Reservoir. This plan is presented in
the Definite Plan Report of November 1976 and the Final Environmental
Statement of September 1976.

.
I'
,I
:
I

3

I
i

"
