An area of 950 acres is now irrigated above this station,

:from both river and tributaries, with small prospect of increasing

this acreage. Below the gage 1,175 acres are irrigated :from tribu-

taries and are outside the project area. The city of Durango has

the right to divert 6.5 second feet from above the gage.

The early records serve merely to show that Florida River

is a very erratic stream with annual variations much greater than

on most streams in San Juan Basin. The record from 1917 to 1924 is

use:fUl becauso it falls within the period of vfuich a study was made

in connection with the Rio Grande Joint Investigation.
