For the study area as a whole, growth in agricultural <br />employment during the past decade did not keep pace with total <br />employment. <br /> <br />., <br /> <br />~"{: <br /> <br />The data on income, shown in Table 2.3, follow a similar pattern, but with <br />some important differences. In 1993, proprietors and employees in the study <br />area's agricultural industry earned income of about $269 million, or one <br />percent of total income.
